Have a look at Google labs to know what is coming out from Google in the future. Of all the projects mentioned there, I particularly liked Google Deskbar which basically makes the searching a lot faster and easier. Google Deskbar is extensible and can be used to search other non-Google search-engines also.
The most exciting project, and the one I would like to try out most is Google voice search which would basically allow one to call up and speak the search query into a phone and see the results in a browser.
