Was reading Justin Frankel's blog post that he wrote a little while after quiting Nullsoft (acquired by AOL), and the following paragraph really struck a chord with me:

[...] but I do still want to create things. I guess the trick is denying yourself ambition (which seems to find its way to you, regrettably), and to just make shit for the sake of making it. Not because you think it'll be big, not because it's "what you're doing next", but rather, because it's interesting. To you. Whether or not anybody else cares, is their business.

These days he is building Jesusonic.

To want to pace yourself, to do the best possible, to avoid making shit, to do something fun/interesting; that too is an aim/ambition to aspire for.

Thats what I want to do.

Thats what a lot of people would want to do.

Except that the desire to eat kind of gets in the way.

But the ambitions that Justin is talking about would still find you. And I guess we all agree that we want to instead focus on just building something fun and interesting without caring about what anybody else thinks of it.

All the innovators that I have seen so far share the same psyche "To do the thing out of interest not out of fear."
