Messenger Tool to Tap Social Nets

If your friends and colleagues don't know the answer to a given question, they often know of a better person to ask. I heard of a product thats an alert kinda tool and allows researchers to queue up research and the alert both e-mails you and shows an alert when researched stuff is complete. Their site is http://www.desktopalert.net

They use jabber on the back end for integration of the alerts into the IM space.

I heard they have a beta out and I like the concept because as an opt-in tool its clean of spam plus it seems nifty.
